What are nexus scholar mentors?

NEXUS Scholar mentors are faculty who are willing to oversee and guide NEXUS Scholars through research projects of their choice, internships realted their professional interests, and/or provide skill-building and informational sessions. Mentors will serve as a resource for NEXUS Scholars who are engaging in data sciene related work aimed at bolstering student with the necessary skills to succeed in data science related occupations.

Who can be a nexus scholar mentor?

Any faculty member willing to guide NEXUS Scholar students are eligible. NEXUS Scholars are students from the following departments: Anthropology, Economics, Family & Consumer Studies, Geography, Psychology (Non-Clinical), and Sociology. 

 

Are there benefits to being a nexus scholar mentor?

NEXUS Scholar Mentors will recieve $1,000/year for their mentorship role. Additional funding is available for conducting workshops for NEXUS Scholars. Amounts vary depending on the type of workshop.
